Broadcast TV Goes Digital in 14 Days….Are You Ready?

At midnight on February 17, 2009, all television stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to digital broadcasting. Federal Law mandates this known  digital TV transition or DTV which will affect the whole United States. The transition allows airwaves to free up for police, fire and emergency rescue communications, allow better picture and sound for consumers and better wireless services.

TVConsumers who rely on antennas (outside ones as well as “rabbit ears”) will need to purchase a seperate digital-to-analog converter box to watch TV. A TV conncected to cable, satellite or other pay TV service does not require a converter box. For those with analog TVs, there are a few options. You may buy a converter box, connect to cable, satellite or another pay service or purchase a television with a digital tuner.

A coupon is available for those who wish to retain their current TV and purchase a converter box. Click here for the coupon. For more information, click  here and make sure you are ready for the switch.
