Mosaic tile that comes attached to a net backing can be relatively easy to hang, but leave plumbing to the experts.

Lighting: Try not to move or add electricity, but cosmetic lighting changes are a quick improvement. One idea is to buy a lamp shade, some decorative trip and a pendant light kit. Use a glue gun to add the trim and voila, a fresh lamp shade.
