South Miami “The City of Pleasant Living” offers Pedestrian Charm!

The City of South Miami was incorporated in 1926 and has been “The City of Pleasant Living” ever since. With its small town charm, the city maintains several buildings with historic designations. South Miami has 30 single family homes and 6 commercial buildings with historical designations. In spite of all the wonderful newness and development of South Miami, I  do miss the  little flower shop just behind what’s now Starbucks!

Mere seconds from the University of Miami, the area serves as the hub of University life, with dining, entertainment, shopping and people watching. Streets lined with trees  and lots of restaurants with outdoor seating, South Miami has boutiques and quaint small town feel.

The Shops at Sunset Place (formerly known as the Bakery Center) provides a 24 movie theater complex, more stores and more restaurants.

A few blocks away is Whip ‘n Dip, a one of a kind home-made ice cream shop and a favorite among local residents. Opened on July 4, 1985, the store owners make their ice cream in-house with new flavors weekly.

Town is a trendy new local restaurant, with outdoor dining.  Nearby there’s Cavas,  for wine-sampling.  And tried and true, a local staple is Cafe Pastis,  a jam packed local French restaurant with outside dining.

New…  and an exciting alternative to StarbucksCafe Segafredo is ready open it’s doors any day now…  just up the street from Town. Up the street in South Miami is Miyako… my favorite Japanese restaurant.  Please share your favorites with us…  … for information on anything and everything  having to do with Miami… living, enjoying, coming or going.   If you are looking to  buy or sell real estate  in the Miami area, and need an experienced Realtor, please give us a call or contact us here.  South Miami has a variety of single family homes, condos, and townhomes in every price range,  within an earshot of the center of town.  The Restivo Team – EWM Realtors International.  We look forward to helping you!
